The nearest Airport is Faro (FAO) which is about a 65 minutes’ drive by car. The other but further option would be Lisbon (LIS). (2,5 h drive)

In case you are not renting a car, you have the possibility to book an airport shuttle. From Lisbon there is a good connection by train or bus to Portimao. From there it’s about 25 Minutes to the house.

By Transfer

From Faro there is a possibility to take a shuttle which brings you directly to the Bhavan. It takes approximately 65 minutes’ drive until you reach our place.

Or you can take pubic transport from Lisbon or Faro to Portimão, where you can take a local taxi or a pre booked shuttle to our Bhavan. The drive will be approximately 25 minutes.

The costs for the shuttle are depending on the location of pick up, arrival time and the amount of people. In case you are interested we can help you with the booking. In order to find a suitable solution we need details about your arrival time, the amount of people as well as the amount of luggage that needs to be transported.

Directions without navigation:

Driving out of the airport area will come to a roundabout where you take the second exit on the N125-10.

You continue to drive towards the signs Portimao/A22 until the exit on the IC4. The IC4 continues in the N125-4 and there you take the exit to the highway A22 direction Portimão. As orientation you will see a big IKEA in front and left of you.

From there you continue on the A22 until exit 5 – Monchique/Portimão. After ca 20 min. drive you will come to a roundabout where you take the first exit Monchique until you reach the entrance of Monchique.

Entering Monchique, you will have to your right and left hand a petrol station heading to another roundabout (Intermarche on your left). Here you take the first exit to your right, direction Alferce.

After approximately 250 meters you see a sign ‘Picota →’ follow that sign the street to the right up the mountain. You continue until the T-crossing. Here you go right and continuing your way up to Picota. After a view minutes you will arrive at the Bodhi Bhavan on your left side with a fence and big entrance gate.

There are several good offers to rent a car from Faro airport. Next to the classical ones like Europcar, Hertz, SIXT and Avis, there also good local providers. Most of the international car rental suppliers operating at Faro airport have their own counters inside the terminal and car pick-up / return parks outside.
